Why? Resistance training helps create and maintain overall health, while building lean muscle, burning fat, and increasing bone mass and strengthening connective tissues. It can also help prevent injury and make life generally easier!
How: Make sure to hit upper and lower body muscles, and choose at least 1 exercise per major muscle group during your workout, at least twice a week. Choose weights that are challenging to lift by the final repetition. Note: Pain does not equal progress.

and work your way up to the guidelines suggested by the American College of Sports Medicine.
