How to Get Your Best Bikini Butt

Bikini Butt

Do you feel that? Long days. Warmer temps. Extra sunshine. Summerrrr! Hopefully you have a few pool or beach days locked into your schedule. If not, get planning! ‘Tis the season to prioritize some relaxation and outdoor celebrations with those you love.

It’s also a natural time for extra self-consciousness and beach-body questions coming our way. How can you not wonder what more can be done when we’re wearing far less than the rest of the year?! You’re not alone. We all have image concerns, and parts of our body we wish we could improve. But that shouldn’t prevent fun! Here are some tips and tricks that will hopefully help you become your best bathing beauty—or dude. Pick one or use them all; just remember to walk proudly whether you’re at the start of your fitness journey or well down the road.

1. Strut Your Stuff

Whether you’re rocking a classic one-piece or ready for your bikini, it’s all about confidence! Believe me, I used to be the girl who hid herself under towels at the beach. What changed? I started loving my body. That can take some extra time, so be patient. In the meantime, find your fit! High-waisted, cheeky, Brazilian, side-tie, hipster, or boy shorts; there’s a suit style out there for your unique booty. And guys, have some fun with patterns and length. Picking a suit that matches your personality and figure is my recipe for instant confidence.

2. Lift, Baby, Lift

Strength training is a great way to tone, tighten, and firm your entire body; it’s also responsible for creating those gorgeous curves we want you to embrace. Consider adding a few plyometric exercises to your workout. They have the ability to increase your caloric burn during a workout, but can also improve strength, coordination, and overall balance. Better booty and balance? Win-win.

3. Lighten Up

A trip to the beach can be foiled easily by a bad case of belly bloat. Although most health and fitness professionals would recommend a mainly plant-based diet filled with vitamin-packed foods on the regular, you may want to avoid those foods that cause bloat before your bathing suit debut. Examples include broccoli, cabbage, kale, cauliflowers, and other similar leafy green veggies. Also, however fun, you’ll want to stay away from sugar, alcohol, and soda as well, because they cause unnecessary bloat. Instead, opt for hydrating and metabolism-boosting options like grapefruits, oranges, cucumbers, mushrooms, yogurt, lentils, asparagus, almonds, and avocados.

4. Smooth It Out

Just like a good outfit (or suit), clear smooth skin helps boost confidence. So don’t forget to give a little extra attention to your bikini line or any other unwanted hair. You can shave, wax, use hair removal creams or even laser hair removal. My go-to option? A bikini wax. Not only is it longer-lasting, but you can trust a licensed esthetician to do the dirty work for you. For extra peace of mind, find a salon that specializes in waxing services, like Waxing the City, where hygiene and cleanliness are top priority.

5. Lather Up

Your smooth skin will be overshadowed if you get a bad burn. Be sure to apply, and re-apply, sunscreen to fend off the sun’s UV rays so your fun in the sun isn’t ruined. And remember, sunscreen takes time to sink in. It’s most effective when applied 20-30 minutes before heading out.

6. Listen to Your Momma!

Finally, remember how your parents [hopefully] told you you’re beautiful and amazing and unique? Well, you are. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and are a work in progress. Get out there and have fun, and try not to stress too much!
