On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S.
Unemployment rates for veterans, in many parts of the U.S., are three times higher than the national average.
In an effort to do our small part to help and say thank you for their service, Anytime Fitness has partnered with Tee It Up for the Troops™—a national non-profit organization that delivers critically needed services to military families—to help veterans open their own gyms.
“The unemployment rate for military veterans is significantly higher than the national average,” said Chuck Runyon, CEO of Anytime Fitness, LLC. “That’s just not right. Our hope is that Operation Heartfirst™ will not only help veterans operate their own businesses, but also provide jobs for other vets as club managers and personal trainers–for years to come.”
Anytime’s HeartFirst Charitable Foundation™ provided a large grant to Tee It Up for the Troops™, which then considered a variety of outstanding military candidates who want to help the world—and especially veterans—get to a healthier place. Ultimately, one couple rose to the top, and were chosen as this year’s first recipients.
Hannah & Tristan Ambrozewski were motivated to join the Army after the events of 9/11, and met in training camp after enlisting separately. Soon they each became intelligence analysts serving in Iraq, and eventually married and started a family.
The Ambrozewskis (including their two young daughters) were recognized recently at Anytime Fitness headquarters in Hastings, MN, and again at the international Anytime Fitness conference in Nashville. They hope to open their Anytime Fitness gym near Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC, in the spring of 2016.
We are proud to be affiliated with Tee It Up for the Troops™ and play a part in Hannah and Tristan’s future, and can’t wait to hear about the lives they’ll surely help!
Thank you to all military and their families.
