Back to Fitness: 4 Effortless Workout Motivation Tricks

With summer fading fast and fall rapidly approaching, we often reminisce about back to school season. Whether it’s the first day outfit, huddling with friends to see who you had classes with, or simply starting a new school year, it was always fun to look forward to. And who says we can’t still feel that way?

This is your chance to find that “back to school” feeling once again! These four fall fitness ideas will get you back in the gym ready to get your sweat on!

1. Try a New Group Fitness Class

Each new school year brought on new classes and its own set of challenges. You’re next challenge: Try a group fitness class! You’ve already tried one? Try a new one!

It’s common to think, I don’t know, I’m not sure I can keep up with them, maybe when I’m in shape. When we don’t feel great about ourselves, the first thing we want to do is hide. Trying a new class doesn’t exactly jive with staying inconspicuous but if you fall into that category you should ask yourself these few simple questions before you write off trying a new class completely:

  1. Are there a lot of people in the class? Probably for good reason…
  2. Do they seem happy when they’re done? Probably for good reason…
  3. Do you notice the same people coming back? Probably for goo… Aw, you get it.

More importantly, have you ever stopped to contemplate how many of those in the class had your exact mindset before they took the plunge? A lot of them! So get out there and give it a go!

2. Get a New Fitness Outfit

There isn’t anything quite like rocking a brand new outfit, especially when you’re walking into the gym! It can motivate and make you feel awesome!

Do yourself a favor and re-up your gym clothes. We’re not saying to throw out your current gym wardrobe and start all over, but rather treat yourself to a new pair of shorts or yoga pants with an awesome tank top or tee! Maybe a new pair of running shoes? This will surely renew your motivation and get you back to the gym in style.

3. Sign Up For An Event

Signing up for an upcoming event or race is a great way to get motivated! You might be surprised how much the simple act of getting the event on your calendar keeps you motivated on the tough days and gives you a reason to stick to your training.

Whether it’s a 5K, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, or doing your first triathlon, they all require you to be ready when the date finally rolls around! So what are you waiting for? Find an event and sign on up!

4. Start a Daily Health Agenda

Odds are it’d be pretty easy to think of the top 3 things that are the hardest for you to maintain on a day-to-day basis, yet play a vital role in your health. Everyone is different, but some popular ones include;

  1. Eat breakfast
  2. Pack lunch instead of eating out
  3. Make it to the gym before or after work
  4. Drink enough water

Recognize your accomplishments of doing seemingly “normal” things and handling them like a champion! A calendar or some sort of list you can check off is always a great way to keep yourself accountable This plays to our natural urge to count things and build a stockpile of accomplishments.

Grab your notebook and start with one or two things and work your way to adding more! Need a tool to track your daily health agenda? Check out Google Tasks or Lift
