Q: How did you get interested in barefoot skiing?
A: I’m from Northern New Hampshire and my older cousin started a water ski show team. We then hired a professional barefoot water skier to come up and teach us how to barefoot ski. He taught me for my first time and I was hooked. We then started to train hard and compete.
Q: In your book, you talk about an inspirational card that a friend gave you. What did it say?
A: If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. That is what I needed to hear as I was at the low point in my career. My dream was to be a world champion in I was favored to win two world titles. I choked both times and thought the dream would never come true. I then changed my eating habits and trained harder than ever before. I can’t give the whole story away but the reader can buy my book on Amazon to get the rest of the exciting story.
Q: What’s your favorite workout to stay in shape for skiing? What’s your favorite go-to healthy meal?
A: I really enjoy the spin bike! I’ve had a few knee injuries and riding tightens my knees up. My favorite healthy meal would have to be Gluten Free, Dairy Free pizza my wife and I make at home. Daiya cheese rocks for a cheese replacement!
Q: What advice would you give someone who has tried to meet their health/fitness goals yet continues to come in ‘second?’
A: I think people go to hard to fast. “Baby Steps” is the key. It allows the individual to learn as they change their eating or become more active. You have to find what works for you but be patient because it’s more of a life style change more than anything! My wife Lauren is a Health Coach, so that helps too!
Q: Outside of barefoot skiing, what are some of your favorite hobbies?
A: Traveling around the country/world, snowmobiling and I want to pick up hang gliding soon!
Q: What’s your number one bad habit?
A: Eating way too many chips and salsa at Mexican Restaurants : )
Q: If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
A: I would love to have the freedom of flying but superpowers in extreme knowledge is right up there.
