The Ultimate Relaxing Vacation: South

relaxing vacations south

You make your list. It looks like another crazy day. Drop kids off at school. Pick them up from school. Shuffle one to cello practice and the other to softball. Somewhere in there you have to find time for dinner. But in reality, all you want to do is sit for two whole minutes without anyone interrupting you to “find the other shoe”. It’s time. Find a babysitter and take a long weekend to one of these relaxing destinations.

galveston island

Get away from it all by heading to Galveston for a long weekend. This family friendly destination is an island of bliss.

Where to Stay

Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the San Luis Resort in Galveston, Texas accommodations boast breathtaking views from your private balcony. It’s the ideal opportunity to relax and enjoy the coastal breezes and setting sun – an intimate moment all to yourself or special time with family and friends.

Looking for a space for your family reunion? This house accommodates up to 15 people and it’s literally 30-steps from the beach! Three private decks look over the beautiful beach in Galveston Island. The house includes a kitchen, access to the Galveston Country Club, a gas grill, and (of course) has Wi-Fi. Relax with the whole family.

What to Do

Aye Aye, Captain! A must do for any history buff is a visit to the 1877 Elissa tall ship! Unlike some tall ships of today Elissa is not a replica, but a survivor. She was built during the decline of the “Age of Sail” to fill a niche in maritime commerce.

The 61st St. Fishing Pier located on the Gulf of Mexico, offers fun for everyone. We welcome fishermen and families.

Stewart Beach is the perfect beach for relaxing. The park features umbrella and chair rentals, volleyball courts, an outdoor pavilion with an elevator, snack bar, souvenir shop, restrooms and showers.

What to Eat

Featuring incredible gourmet cuisine in a quaint, elegant yet exciting atmosphere, the Saltwater Grill is conveniently located in the heart of bustling downtown Galveston Island. Who could pass up their delicious crab cakes and Brown Butter Risotto with Lobster?

The Banana Cabana Café has a warm funky atmosphere that’s comfortable and fun. They have 3 dining rooms and an outside patio, plenty of room to chill and just hang out. Grab a Panini sandwich before heading out to the beach. Or just relax and grab a sweet tea.

Myrtle Beach

Mrytle Beach could very possibly be the reason you never return home. With the beautiful views and the wonderful people, you’ll be thinking about emailing your boss, “I’ll be staying here…indefinitely.”

Where to Stay

Enjoy true relaxation with budget friendly rooms right on the water at the Beach Cove Resort. Save even more money by getting the suite, they have small kitchens perfect for cooking your own meals!

Staying at the Long Bay Resort has many perks. Not only is it on the water, but it’s quite close to the heart of the city. But you might not ever venture off the property. Relax to the sound of the ocean waves and the feel of the saltwater breeze while lounging at our many pools or gliding down our lazy river. What more could you ask for?

What to Do

Walk down the boardwalk and you’ll find the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel. Take this ride to see some awesome views of Myrtle Beach. You might want to stay on for multiple ‘spins.’

Shop at Broadway at the Beach and eat at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.

Myrtle beach is a golf destination for many, and we recommend MB National King’s North. This sensational Arnold Palmer signature course was recognized among America’s Best New Courses when it opened in 1996.

What to Eat

Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant is the seafood experience of the Grand Strand. Located directly across from Broadway at the Beach, they serve a world-famous seafood buffet.

Did you find the lost shaker of salt? Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville has a great atmosphere, and is kid-friendly. Plus they have margaritas!

Tucked in the Gulf of Mexico, Naples is perfect for a relaxing Florida vacation. Not a typical Spring Break vacation, this town is known for it’s luxurious beachfront homes. Plus it has two Anytime Fitness locations, so you can still get your workout in between spa services!

Where to Stay

Staying on the beach in Naples has to be the perfect way to start a vacation. Awake to the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore at the Naples Beach Hotel.

If you are on a budget but still want to live the luxurious life of a Naples resident, make sure to check out La Casita on Airbnb! What isn’t to love about this place? You get a kitchen, Wifi, pool, and (a relaxing vacation must) a hammock. It can sleep up to five if you decide to bring the family!

What to Do

Naples is nestled on the Gulf of Mexico, boasting sun-drenched beaches and calm seas. Go golfing or just lay in the sun on the beach with your kindle.

Enjoy a day at the Spa with a full range of services from the Naples Beach Hotel.

Of course, I would also recommend going for a stroll in Old Naples. And make sure to stop at Tommy Bahama to really feel like a true Floridian.

What to Eat

Fish lovers will rejoice for the fresh caught fish at MiraMare, located right on the water in Florida. Not a fish fan? That is just fine because they make spaghetti that is “to die for.” Also, they carry only the best wines so you dining experience will be complete.

A 22/30 score on Google looks to be another delight! Like any coastal city, they are flush with fresh caught fish like Mahi-Mahi paired with their mango sauce. It is recommended to try the Pad Thai, but it’s not always on the menu. Whatever you order, you’ll enjoy the experience.
